Classes will take place in the Devon Energy Theatre at Special Care.

SEUSSICAL, JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, transport audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus. The Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!


Wednesdays 5:00PM-6:30PM

CURTAIN CALL is for elementary aged children who are excited about singing, dancing, and acting! Led by a certified Early Childhood Educator, this class is packed with fun games, songs that build mind and body confidence, and the practical application of theatre education through the experience of performing for an audience. Students will perform an abridged musical in the Spring. CURTAIN CALL has absorbed the students who were formerly members of ACT ONE.

DEAR EDWINA JR. is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up, from the creators of JUNIE B. JONES, THE MUSICAL. DEAR EDWINA JR. follows the adventures of plucky advice-giver-extraordinaire, Edwina Spoonapple, as she directs the neighborhood kids in a series of buoyant production numbers for the latest edition of her weekly "Advice-a-Palooza.” Edwina and her friends share wisdom on everything from trying new foods to making new friends, through clever, catchy and poignant songs.

TAKE FIVE (Ages 8-12)

Fridays 5:00-6:30PM

TAKE FIVE combines the learning elements with the producing of a junior show. Each semester is spent focusing on technical components of theatre and applying that knowledge in a practical context. This class is a great choice for children in elementary and middle school as they learn theatre production, navigate age appropriate challenges, and create a community of like-minded friends.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, SHREK THE MUSICAL is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE; CAROLINE, OR CHANGE) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. SHREK brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears.

CENTER STAGE (Ages 13-18)

Mondays 6:00-8:00PM

CENTER STAGE will emphasize elements of a production, such as rehearsal technique, onstage and offstage etiquette, props, sets, and costumes all within the context of producing a show. Students will audition for parts, and rehearse during class time. Additional rehearsals will be added at the discretion of the director, and will include weekends and extra evenings.

Video Submission Guidelines:

  • Please prepare two 16-32 bar cuts in the style of the show..

  • Do NOT sing a cappella. You may use a karaoke track or an accompanist. 

  • Set your camera on a stand so the picture is stable; do not have a friend or relative hold the device.

  • Choose a plain, solid background with good (preferably natural) lighting.

  • Wear clothing you would wear to a normal audition.

  • At the beginning of the video, state your name and the title of the audition cuts you have chosen. 

  • If you mess up, redo the video. Video auditions are judged with stricter standards than live ones.

  • Make sure the video is at the highest video quality when it is exported (at least 720p), and is in .mp4 format.

  • Email video to with your name and show in the title.

    • Example: “Adam Appleton’s Cinderella Audition Video”​
