POLICIES & PROCEDURES

IF YOU DON’T FEEL WELL, STAY HOME. If you are having any symptoms that seem unusual to you, stay home. Don’t take a chance. If you are feverish, have body aches, a headache, chills, or any other symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home. If you are going to miss a class due to illness, please notify Kismet Arts instructors by emailing kismetartsstudio@gmail.com. You may also submit absences through the online portal. 

 

BE ON TIME. Arrive 5-10 mins early.

 

NO WAITING AREA AVAILABLE. There is a small lobby with limited seating. Parents and siblings (or anyone picking a student up from class) are asked to remain in their vehicles during class. No guests are allowed in classes at this time. Student guests only permitted when considering joining a class.

 

RESTROOM/WATER FOUNTAIN USE. Please recall common knowledge in the restroom and WASH YOUR HANDS after using. Please BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE to every class.

 

ATTIRE: Class specific clothing is required and elevates your focus, discipline, and commitment to your craft. Questions about attire should be directed to your instructor first, and then to kismetartsstudio@gmail.com

  • IN ALL STUDIOS: We ask that you do not wear outside shoes on the dance floors. Please take your outside shoes off and put them in a bag before entering the studio. You may wear jazz shoes, ballet shoes, jazz sneakers, or rubber soled shoes that are specifically dedicated to class. This will help keep our dance floors clean and lasting longer.

  • ACTING, PRODUCTION CLASSES, STAGE COMBAT & YOGA: Everyone should wear comfortable clothing you can move in and close-toed shoes. All attire with graphics must contain positive messages.

  • BALLET: You may choose from leotard and tights, hair in a bun, and ballet flats, or black ballet leg wear, form fitting shirt (preferably white), dance belt, and ballet flats.

  • JAZZ/TAP: Students should wear form fitting clothing. You may choose from leotard and leggings or jazz pants (preferably tight), a white shirt, and dance belt (if needed). Wear jazz/tap shoes. No baggy or loose-fitting clothes are allowed. If you are unsure what to wear, discuss with your instructor.

  • HIP-HOP: Students should wear loose fitting clothing, nothing too restricting and tennis shoes. Come in clothing that makes you feel the most comfortable and confident.

 

CLASS ARRIVAL

  • Students should enter at designated class time. Please wait until an instructor welcomes you into the studio.

  • For children under the age of 10, we request that a parent waits with their child until an instructor accompanies them in.

 

CLASS DEPARTURE

  • For children under the age of 10, parents should enter the building for pick up. 

  • Students are to be escorted out by an instructor. We ask that a parent stand outside their car so we can see a face.

  • No student is to leave without the instructors seeing their parent/guardian first.

  • Teacher must be informed via written communication of ANY OTHER ADULT picking up a student. Information should include the person’s name and relation to the student.

 

OTHER

  • No lingering in the parking lot when class is over.

  • Doors to the building are to be closed at all times, not propped open.

  • Doors to classrooms must remain unlocked.

 

PRODUCTION CLASS AUDITIONS

All students enrolled in production classes will be required to audition. Our goal is to give every student an opportunity to grow, through learning the techniques of auditions. We will evaluate each student based on experience, maturity, and overall performance, and cast students based on what is best suited for their needs and abilities.

PRODUCTION CLASS PERFORMANCES

  • COSTUMINGStudents are to wear a base costume of t-shirts or tank top/camisole, and athletic shorts/compression shorts, etc. Students are to wear their base costume to the theatre, and at all times under their costumes for ease of changing/remaining covered.

  • MICROPHONESMicrophones shall be placed on the student by those working sound, with one teacher helping, and watching/remaining with student at all times during process.

  • BACKSTAGESome adults or student assistants supervising backstage may be required for performances. These volunteers, permitted around children, include adults who are known well by the teacher, those working in childcare, or those trained in Safe Environment. No family members, friends, or other guests will be allowed backstage where students are without prior consent by instructor.

  • STRIKE: With the completion of ALL performances, family volunteers are asked to assist with areas of taking down set, putting away costumes, and returning materials where needed (what we call “strike” in performance terms).

YOGA CLASS POLICIES

BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat)

  • All participants must bring their own yoga mat. Mats will not be provided by the studio. 

  • Mats should be clean and in good condition to ensure a safe and comfortable practice.

WATER BOTTLE

  • Please bring a filled water bottle to stay hydrated during class.

  • Water refill stations are available; however, disposable cups will not be provided.

ARRIVAL TIME

  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled class time to set up your mat and settle in.

  • Late arrivals are discouraged to ensure minimal disruption.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

  • Keep personal belongings (bags, phones, etc) in designated areas to maintain a clear practice space.

  • The studio is not responsible for lost or stolen items; please keep valuables secure.

ETIQUETTE & RESPECT

  • Respect the instructor and fellow participants by following class guidelines and maintaining a quiet and focused environment.

  • Refrain from using strong scents or perfumes that may affect others' practice.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Inform the instructor of any injuries or medical conditions before class begins.

  • listen to your body and modify poses as needed to prevent injury.

 

REGISTRATION FEES

A non-refundable registration fee of $30/student is due upon enrollment. For those enrolled in Production Classes, you will not be allowed to audition until the Registration Fee is paid.

 

TUITION 

Tuition can be paid in multiple ways:

 

When you enroll, you  will be able to select from the following:

  • MONTHLY - 1st of the month (Select Auto Pay or Self Pay)*

  • MONTHLY - 15th of the month (Select Auto Pay or Self Pay)*

  • SEMESTERLY - Pay in full (Self Pay Only)+

* MONTHLY is only for classes that are scheduled monthly (Act One, dance classes or on-camera)

+ SEMESTERLY is for production classes (Curtain Call, Take Five, Center Stage) and Stage Combat class. All semesterly classes must be paid in full by mid-semester. Date to be emailed by Kismet Arts.

 

If you select "Auto Pay", we will pull tuition from your account on the 1st or the 15th (whichever date you elected). If you select "Self Pay", Kismet Arts will not deduct automatically without your permission. If we do not receive a response by the end of the month, we will pull automatically from the card on file.

 

For those enrolled in a Production Class, those fees should be elected as SEMESTERLY and "Self Pay".  All tuition for Production Classes must be paid by mid-semester (Fall Break or Spring Break). If needing more time to cover tuition and production fees, please email kismetartsstudio@gmail.com with a payment plan.
 

PRODUCTION FEES 

A $100 production fee will be added to your account if you are enrolled in a production class. This fee will be added mid semester and must be paid a month before the show opens. Curtain Call class will only have one production fee of $100 even though this class is held over two semesters.

PAYMENTS

We accept cash, check, credit card, or ACH. In an effort to cover the costs of credit card processing fees, we will charge 2.89% to every transaction paid with Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit card. This does not apply to debit cards or other forms of payment. We do NOT accept American Express.

If signing up for auto-pay, you authorize Kismet Arts LLC to schedule periodic charges to your Credit Card or Bank Account. You will be provided with a receipt for each payment and the charge will appear on your Credit Card or Bank Account Statement as JackRabbit Technologies. In the event the billing date or the amount charged changed, you agree that notice of such change will be provided to you by us at least 10 days before the payment due date.

 

You understand this authorization will remain in effect until canceled in writing or email, and agree to notify the merchant in writing or email of any changes in your account information or termination of this authorization at least 15 days prior to the next billing date. If the payment dates fall on a weekend or holiday, You understand that the payments may be executed on the next business day. In the case of any ACH transaction being rejected for Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) you understand that the merchant may, at its discretion, attempt to process the charge again within 30 days. And agree to an additional $25 charge for each attempt returned NSF which will be initiated as a separate transaction to your account.

PRODUCTION CLASS ATTENDANCE POLICY

Students will be allowed 2 absences from their production schedule. This does not include tech week. Tech week is required, no exceptions. Any conflicts must be discussed with your director as soon as possible. If more than 2 absences occur, we reserve the right to withdraw the student from the production and re-cast as necessary.

 

PRODUCTION CLASS WITHDRAWALS

Students have two weeks to withdraw from a production class and receive a full refund. Any student in class by the third week of class will be required to pay full tuition. Notice must be given in writing to kismetartsstudio@gmail.com if the student wishes to withdraw. Enrollment fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

WITHDRAWALS

Students may choose to withdraw from a class, but must provide notice by emailing kismetartsstudio@gmail.com. If you are paying monthly and drop a class mid month, you will not receive a refund for the remaining month. Enrollment fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure to note your classes in your calendar. There are no refunds or credits for missed classes.

 

POLICY AGAINST HARASSMENT & MISCONDUCT 

Kismet Arts has a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct.  We are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment. It is the policy of Kismet Arts to maintain an environment free from misconduct, including but not limited to, sexual, racial, ethnic, religious, age-based, disability, sexual orientation, and gender expression harassment. WEAPONS

Kismet Arts strictly prohibits the possession or use of a weapon or imitation like weapon on site unless being utilized in a performance. Students and employees also have a duty to report violations of this policy to the Kismet Arts staff and faculty.

 

BEHAVIOR

Positive reinforcement, reminders, or age-appropriate discussion between student and teacher are utilized to assist in behavior redirection. 

 

BUILDING FRIENDSHIP

Our classes provide an environment designed to build friendship and consideration for one another. Each student is expected to display kindness and respect for one another, with any disagreements being handled by the teacher/talked through with any involved students. 

 

TEACHER CONDUCT

Teacher, assistant teacher, and student class assistants:

  • Shall conduct themselves in a professional manner while maintaining an exciting and fun environment. 

  • Will join in activities during theatrical games with the students. 

  • Shall approach each student with patience, grace, and respect.

  • Shall only ENCOURAGE students in the arts, and only ease the student out of their comfort zone at the student’s pace.

  • Shall dress appropriately for working with children: 

  • Clothing allowing for ease of movement in dance. Clothing providing coverage/modesty. Clothing with words must contain only positive messages.

 

STUDENT CONDUCT

Students:

  • Shall conduct themselves in a professional manner while contributing to a fun and supportive environment.

  • Will join in activities during theatrical games or exercises.

  • Shall approach one another with patience, grace, and respect.

  • Shall only encourage one another in the arts, and push themselves out of their comfort zone, noting and voicing their personal boundaries as they progress. 

  • Shall dress appropriately for their class: Clothing allowing for ease of movement in dance. Clothing providing coverage/modesty. Clothing with words must contain only positive messages

 

MEDICAL

In case of a medical emergency, after reasonable effort has been made to contact the parent or the child’s physician, you hereby give permission to the Emergency Medical personnel contacted by Kismet Arts to secure treatment for and/or hospitalize your child.  You also authorize Kismet Arts to provide a copy of this form to proper medical personnel for purposes of treating your child.  In the event that any such treatment is not covered by insurance applicable to the activities, you agree to pay all expenses incurred in such emergency treatment.

INJURIES

A first aid kit is always kept on hand. Parents will be informed of all injuries. Teacher/assistant teacher shall tend/care for simple fixes (band-aids, ice pack). In the event of larger injury, parent will be called immediately and an adult will remain with the student at all times.

FIRE ALARMS

Students will depart in a single file line with one adult at the head of line, and the other at the back. Kismet Arts classes will assemble in the parking lot. All students shall remain with both teachers until cleared to enter. Both teacher/assistant teacher will exit the building calmly and efficiently, remaining with the students to ensure all stay together.

TORNADO/WEATHER

Kismet Arts instructors take into account the decision made by Edmond Public Schools regarding weather and cancellations and will not hesitate to cancel class in the event of tornado, ice, snow, or extreme weather conditions. This is to ensure safety of all children/families. In the event of inclement weather, the Kismet Arts staff will securely transport your child to a sheltered location deemed safe and secure.

 

PUBLICITY

By enrolling in class, you give permission for your child to have photographic images taken while at Kismet Arts Studio class for publicity purposes. Consent is given to Kismet Arts Studio employees to use child’s name and art/crafts in any media for promotional purposes without compensation for such usage. You waive the right to inspect or approve finished products including written copy.

 

COMMUNICATION

Email is our primary means of business communication. In order to stay informed, you must register using a primary email account that you will check regularly. Texting is not an official form of communication unless you are notifying your instructor that you are running behind. We will also use social media to send out urgent notifications and updates, so like and follow us on your preferred platform!

 

COMMITMENT

We are committed to maintaining a positive, encouraging atmosphere for children to grow in their love for the arts. In addition, we strive always for each student to feel embraced, valued, respected, and loved. Thank you for joining us in this special adventure. DISCLAIMER

I have read Kismet Arts Studio & Theatre's Policies & Procedures and will take the responsibility to follow the rules and policies therein. Kismet Arts shall not be responsible for cancellation or delay in delivery of performances which results from causes beyond its reasonable control, including, but not limited to: acts of God; fire, flood, severe weather conditions, war, or Epidemic/Pandemic/Viral or communicable disease outbreak; Quarantines; Lack of inability to obtain materials due to workforce disruption; National emergencies; an act, order, or requirement by any government authority; or any other similar circumstance beyond the control of the aforementioned party.  I understand that Kismet Arts does not give credit and/or refunds for class(es) missed due to any of the aforementioned causes.

 

I hereby release and agree to hold Kismet Arts harmless from, and waive on behalf of myself, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to myself and/or property that may be caused by any act, or failure to act of Kismet Arts, or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with any services received from Kismet Arts. I understand that this release discharges Kismet Arts from any liability or claim that I, my heirs, or any personal representatives may have against the theatre and studio with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, any services received from Kismet Arts. This liability waiver and release extends to Kismet Arts Studio & Theatre together with all owners, partners, and employees.

 

By enrolling at Kismet Arts Studio & Theatre, you automatically agree to uphold these Policies and Procedures.
